Each Spring, our Main Street businesses and other generous sponsors come together to make Main Street more colorful and enjoyable for our residents and guests.
Adirondacks on Main Street is a public art installation evoking times past when neighbors would see each other downtown and sit and share the news. The chairs, sponsored by our local businesses, are securely displayed downtown for the summer for all the community to enjoy. In September, Saco Main Street auctions these chairs at a fun event. Proceeds from the September chair auction will be re-invested into the community.
Saco Main Street, with a grant from the York County Council of Realtors, has installed 66 US and Maine flags from the Saco River to Beach Street. We hope to continue to the north end of Thornton Academy in the near future. A special thank you goes out to Leo Bourgeault of Coldwell Banker for his help in securing this grant. The flags will stay up through Labor Day. Enjoy!
